Welcome to the Richard Moat Consultancy. Based in the UK I provide bespoke budget and production scheduling services for a full range of narrative / scripted high-end television (HETV) and film projects.

My clients come from a wide variety of different production backgrounds based either in the UK or overseas. All are looking to ensure high production value across either single or multiple territories for their projects.

Project scale can range enormously, but I regard each project in exactly the same way, by looking at its scope and ambition before formulating a plan to map the best way forward.

With a range of practical experience, skills & knowledge across multiple disciplines I am able to provide tailored, cost efficient planning solutions or a wide range of clients. Short or long term.

“We used Richard on three occasions to help budget and work out feasibilities for band 2 and 3 drama series in order to get us to a green-light stage. Consequently we relied on his real world production experience, his knowledge of the Industry and his wider global reach. Also his intelligence and enthusiasm as well as his calm demeanour made him a pleasure to work with. I look forward to a repeat visit in the future”

Noelette Buckley, HoP Playground TV

UK OR MULTIPLE TERRITORIES

My work can include projects based solely in the UK or across multiple territories. This incorporates liaising with a variety of service companies in any given territory to maximise production spend, including any potential tax credit benefits.

I also undertake feasibility studies to compare the virtues of one territory against another. This can include a number of options including looking at potential location portfolios as well as access to facilities and crew.

ADAPTIVE & VERSATILE

ADAPTIVE

Considering how production skills are currently in short supply, the combination of my practical knowledge and experience coupled with an extensive network of experienced, knowledgeable professionals, Richard Moat Consultancy provides adaptive and cost-effective production planning solutions.

VERSATILE

Given the explosive international growth in scripted production and the demand for new content, the traditional model of keeping production planning ‘in house’ can offer a challenge to timely and accurate delivery in busy production environments.

I oversee multiple projects across different price bands and scripted genres (including comedy, modern day, period, futuristic and fantasy). As a result I’m able to see developing trends in a fast moving production environment which we then feed back into our range of services.
